A rise in the Ganga river's water level in West Bengal has left around 40 percent of the Ratua block hospital submerged. With the main access road cut off, the only way to reach the hospital now is by boat. Power supply to the hospital has also been completely cut off, and snakes and insects have reportedly been seen moving through the corridors. Despite these difficult conditions, Dr. Arijit and the hospital's medical staff did not abandon the facility. They were seen wading through knee-deep water to continue treating patients.
