A shocking case has come to light involving a branch of Central Bank of India in Akola, Maharashtra, where more than 715 grams of gold jewellery has reportedly gone missing from a bank locker. The value of the missing gold is estimated at around ₹1.07 crore. Police have arrested Vaibhav Kolhe, who worked as a cleaner at the bank, in connection with the incident. During the investigation, a claim emerged that the accused had a duplicate key made to open the locker, though this detail requires further confirmation. The accused is also alleged to have mortgaged the stolen gold with various finance companies. Police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
