India is using BRICS (a grouping that includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa and other member nations) to push for a multipolar world order. At the same time, New Delhi is working to maintain its strong ties with both the West and Russia. India's priority within the bloc is to advocate for reforms in international institutions and to secure greater representation for developing nations on global platforms. However, New Delhi wants to ensure that BRICS does not turn into an anti-Western bloc. Along with this, India is also seeking to prevent China from dominating the grouping. In this way, India is attempting to play a balancing role within BRICS — advocating for reform of the global order while avoiding full alignment with any single side.
